What do we think of film adaptations of military memoirs and novels? Can anyone think of one that was actually better when it was adapted to the screen? I feel that even in the best cases (Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Lone Survivor are a few I can think of) a lot gets lost. Film is an entirely different medium and lends itself to certain aspects of telling a story but I prefer the written accounts. The visual aspect of film allows for a more visceral experience but overall I feel like you get less intimacy.
