Moving to Georgetown, Texas this summer after 12 years of Marine Corps fun. Super excited about it, looking to partake in all the fun Texas has to offer like shooting, archery, hunting etc.
Currently working on my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Have been eying a lot of job openings, can’t put in right now though too soon. I’ll start applying in about 2 months for jobs in operations, project management, supply ops, federal and state. If I don’t end up getting a job that pays me near what I make right now, which I expect to happen since I have no civilian experience, I will just settle for going to school using the GI- Bill and use that time to work on myself and make up for lost time with the wife and kids, work part time 2 or so days a week somewhere.
Copy all. I transitioned in 2013 and was targeting similar areas. I had a bachelors degree when transitioning, but it wasn't in a field that I actually wanted to work in so I went back to school to get another degree. I probably interviewed with 15 or so companies before deciding to do this so I know the difficulties of transitioning when you don't have applicable civilian experience. I don't have a huge network in the Austin area, but I do know some people and can give some perspective on what I learned throughout the process. Feel free to send a message when you're ready to start looking and we can jump on a call to discuss.
Good deal, @Devin Deweerdt. What are your plans after getting out?
