Hi mountain bikers! I just rode at Mt. Laguna in Descanso, CA this past weekend. The trail systems there are super rad and diverse, so it got me thinking about a recommendations thread! Feel free to post your favorite trails, no matter the location.
So my recommendation for riding at Mt. Laguna is to start at the Sunset trailhead near mile marker 19 on Sunrise Highway, Descanso, CA. Then to take Kemp Sur trail to Chico Spur trail (beware of long endurance climb here). Then hit the connector spur to get to Gatos. Gatos Spur is your money trail! This long downhill just had work done, and the berms, jumps, and logs are stellar, making for a fast and exhilarating downhill (I could honestly loop Gatos all day). From Gatos, we took Big Laguna Trail over to Noble Canyon. There's a great loop at Noble, but beware of the even longer climb on the way back up. There's also options to continue down Noble Canyon, but recommend leaving a car at the bottom because the loop back up is unreal. If you get a chance to check out Descanso, these are just some of the many trails Mt. Laguna has to offer!
And if you are not on it yet, I highly recommend using the "MTB Project" app. It is free and has tons of trail maps and updated trail conditions! Post your recommendations below and ride on!
Won’t be Mountain Biking but I will be camping at Laguna Campground this weekend.
Rad! A lot of the trails I mentioned above are for hiking as well, if you have time to check any out. Enjoy the views!
