What shoes are you running in?

    in Running Club

It seems like the topic of running shoes is always a hotly debated one among runners. This is certainly an aspect of running that is a true experiment of one (n of 1).

Personally, I am transitioning over to Altra's which are zero-drop. I'm currently running in the Altra Rivera. Overall phenomenal shoe so far! I do rotate it with the Saucony Kinvara. Slow and steady is my motto right now with this transition.

In the past, I have run in Brooks, Nike, Hoka, and On.

    What are you running in?

Questions about shoes for the group? Fire away!

    Happy running out there warriors.

I am about to retire my Reebok Floatride Runs. The midsole feels dead, so I think it's time.

There is a Reebok outlet near me, which is why I most often choose them.

They have the Floatride Energy 3 for like $48 with Military discount currently, but the midsole feels weird on my foot in the toe area, so I havent picked them up.

I REALLY want to try some Hoka Rincon 2s while they're on discount, but I havent taken the hour+ trip to any "local" shops that stock them.

You could always try a site like Road Runner Sports if you are interested in the new Rincon's. I've had my fair share of shoes that I've ordered, put a few miles on, decided I didn't care for them, and simply returned them for a refund or for a different shoe. Pretty easy process to return them as I think you get up to 90 days to run in them.

I've been running in Mizunos for over ten years now! The past few years I have ran in the Wave Inspires, but used to get the Wave Riders. I have heard great things about the Altra's, Jason. So I will have to check them out!

What is your opinion on rotating shoes? A coworker at my last job, who was an avid runner, kept two to three pairs of the same exact running shoe. His theory was that he would switch off between them, so the cushion would have time to go "back to normal" in them before running on them again. I had never heard of this. Typically I run in one pair for a few months, or until my feet/knees start feeling weird, and then I buy the same pair again!

Hey Emma! I have actually never run in Mizuno...should probably check them out!

As far as rotating shoes, yes I actually did this for a while. But, I rotated shoes that had different "drops".....I ran in both the Saucony Kinvara (4mm drop) and the Saucony Iso Ride 2 (8mm drop). I would usually do about half my weekly mileage in one pair and half in the other. I think that there is some benefit to running in shoes with different drops or even just different brands as doing so can work muscles / joints / balance / etc. all slightly differently.

I've actually never heard of rotating the exact same pairs of shoes in order to let the cushion rest or return to normal. Not really sure it works that way! But, I could be wrong!

Just retired my Hoka Ahari 4 and transitioned into some Brooks Adrenaline 21. Having flat feet its been tough to find a good shoe but really starting to like these Brooks

I used to run in Brooks for a few years....mainly the Ghost. Brooks makes some really great running shoes!

Just stumbled upon a pair of Launch 8s in the Academy Clearance bin. Got them for $34. Took em out for the first time this morning, really happy with them. Now to knock the rust off the cardio system!
