I'd like to start this forum off by introducing myself and inviting everyone to post an introduction as well. My name is Dan Arnold and I am the yoga club captain. I have served in multiple branches of the military, in the Navy, active duty as an Aircraft Hydraulics and Structural Mechanic on the P-3C Orion aircraft out of Jacksonville Florida, in the Navy Reserves out of Atlanta, GA, and in my current role with the USAFR out of Atlanta as a Flight Engineer on the C-130H Hercules aircraft. I current work as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician for Delta Air Lines out of Atlanta.
I have been active in yoga for many years and have used it as a tool for myself and for others. I initially started yoga to support my healing after injuries from rugby and powerlifting. I did that for many years off and on before I decided to become an instructor and bring Trauma Informed Yoga to my military family and my friends. I studied a Power Vinyasa based method, then continued on with the Warriors At Ease, Trauma Informed teachings of yoga that Integrate yoga and meditation into military and civilian settings to support the health, resiliency, post-traumatic growth, and connection of service members, veterans, and their families.
The military community is vast, yet we are all more familiar with one another and our own individual roles that we all facilitated as a military member. PB Abbate strives to continue to grow the military community and provide a common base that we can all return to.
Please use this forum to introduce yourself, communicate, and continue to build our community. I am so excited to get to know all of you and look forward to the Yoga Club Retreat in the coming year.
