What are you guys working on? Anyone have a show coming up?? As I mentioned in the main thread, I am currently working through Dark Side of the Moon front to back. I have gotten my way through Breathe and am halfway through Time (including the solo). Really hoping I can get this album locked in before the end of the year. Anyone else have experience playing DSOTM?

I know some of you have had some success with UGT. While I used their tabs a bunch in high school, I felt like they were so broad with their material that I wasn't making many breakthroughs. Marty Schwartz on youtubes is a jolly guy with some good tutorials, but again, not a lot of cohesive progress. FenderPlay was a paid subscription but has really good breakdowns of fundamentals and good exercises/tutorials. I am finally pulling the trigger on some professional lessons. I feel like a legit instructor would help me make the best of my practice time. I'll keep y'all posted with how it goes.

What are you guys playing out of lately? I have a fender telecaster (American body with a Mexican made neck, my weird Frankenstein guitar). I am currently running it through my small Orange Crush am because my Fender Blues Jr blew a tube. For pedals I have a MXR DynaComp compressor, a Wampler Pinnacle distortion pedal, and a TC Electronics Carona mini chorus pedal. Since I'm still very much a novice I haven't wanted to go crazy with gear until I really need it. That being said, that Wampler Pinnacle is one of my favorite distortion pedals I have come across so far. Is there any other pedals or pieces of gear that essential to your guys' setups? I'll be looking to make some additions soon and would love to get some ideas from you dudes.

Which artist inspired you to transition from music fan into a musician? Fun story: A good buddy of mine (nasty guitar player) was a huge Metallica fan in middle shcool. He bought a guitar and committed to learning Master of Puppets as his first song. I don't know what psychopath picks this song as his maiden voyage, but sure enough, he took it piece by piece and is now one of the better shredders I know. Speaking for myself, I'm a blues guy. Elmore James, Leadbelly, Howlin' Wolf all the way back to the early Delta stuff. While it's a great style to translate into other genres, blues guitar on its own will always be a style that makes me want to get my ass up and play.
