On March 5th at 1pm eastern time there is a NYC & Virtual Ruck to honor and recognize the 20 years of OEF, the losses, the successes, and those still in need of evacuation. Let's rally around this together. It would mean a lot to those personally still trying to get people out of Afghanistan. PBA Denver will be getting together same day for our own ruck and hope to see other squads out there too! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/from-oef-to-nyc-ruck-for-afghanistan-those-weve-lost-and-our-allies-tickets-261619309397

Just a quick note for a meetup taking place March 5th at 1pm. I want everyone to be able to earmark the date/time. Tara and I will be hammering down where we will do our ruck and we are open to suggestions! Tara and I believe this will be very impactful. Let's rally around this together. It would mean a lot to Tara personally as she is still trying to get about 40 people out of Afghanistan. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/from-oef-to-nyc-ruck-for-afghanistan-those-weve-lost-and-our-allies-tickets-261619309397

During the PBA retreat in December 2021 Tom and the tribe visited Allegiance Ranch & Equine Rescue in Erie, CO for a bonfire. Dan and the crew offer free equine therapy to veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families. Both organizations were impacted in a positive way. A member of their board of directors signed up on our website and contacted me and invited PBA Denver to their monthly bonfire. It is held the first Friday every month at sunset. Dan and the folks up there are amazing people. I was at the bonfire at the beginning of February and can't wait to get back on March 4th. I have already volunteered PBA Denver and its members for service projects around the ranch and they have some large ones coming up that they'll need help with. More to come. We will also be talking with Dan to set up equine therapy for PBA Denver as well in case anyone is interested. It is amazing how healing being around a horse can be. I highly encourage all of you to seriously consider meeting me at the ranch. Allegiance Ranch located at 3448 Co Rd 4, Erie CO 80516 https://allegianceranch.org

Tribe, Chris Barker is a PBA member in the Denver area. He put me in contact with a colleague of his that focuses on volunteer services for Jefferson County Open Space and this spring and summer we will be gathering together for some service projects around the county. Most recently we have talked about trail maintenance at North Table Top Mtn then shooting down for lunch afterwards. The spring schedule isn't out yet so when I have a date solidified I will update everyone.

Tara Nyikos has become co-captain and will be assisting me with PBA Denver. Think of her as a company 1stSgt. Tara spent 8 years in the Air Force and is a combat veteran, she has her Ph.D in Educational Psychology and is a small business owner. She’s been described to me by those that know her as a true badass! I’m excited to have her input and ideas moving forward at PBA Denver. Happy New Year tribe! I hope the transition from 2021 to 2022 is going well for you! I’m excited for this year and all we will do. Allegiance Ranch hosts a bonfire the first Friday of every month at sunset. They provide food and drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) and sometimes invite guest speakers. Mainly, it’s a safe space for veterans to come and enjoy some fireside conversations and to network. The ranch has graciously invited us to attend these events. I plan on being there on March 4th. The bonfire starts at sunset, so 1830. I hope to see you there! https://allegianceranch.org 3448 Co Rd 4, Erie CO 80516 There are a lot of exciting things happening with PB this year. The book club has already hit the ground running and if you’re not on their email list or haven’t visited the forum yet I highly suggest it. The PB has also hired its first Chief Development Officer and is almost done finalizing the Board of Directors. I don’t know how many retreats in Montana we are having this year but anticipate it being more than last year (4). Hobby based and locally based squad leaders are in charge of planning and executing those. Tom has suggested having regional retreats with multiple clubs or a retreat where the hunting club or fly fishing club gets the grub and the chefs club makes it all fancy. When I know more I’ll be sure to pass it along asap. I would like to plan a camping trip this summer as well with other regional squads. Salt Lake City UT and Cheyenne WY chapters are actively involved in their communities and it would be awesome to get everyone together for some campfire conversations. Is anyone on board with that? I would also like to get our chapter members out towards the western slope more involved this year by hosting events nearer to them. I’m not sure what this looks like yet and I imagine it’ll be some hiking or camping, maybe a weekend getaway type thing. As a reminder, one of our local chapter members Steve Bennett is the Fly Fishing Club captain. Whether you’ve fished your whole life or never had waders on Steve is the man to get a hold of. His number is 330.406.8862.

Hey everyone, I met a gentleman that volunteers at Staunton State Park in Conifer. He told me the park doesn't receive much funding and doesn't get many volunteers and there is a possibility we would be able to help with trail maintenance and other things. Just gauging interest. 619.302.6540

Hey everyone,, I met a gentleman that volunteers his time at a horse rescue in Franktowon. He said they have 60 horses. Ive read articles that rave about the benefits of horse therapy. I believe we would be able to help groom the horses and walk them to and from the stalls and the corrals and assist with feeding. If this is of interest to anyone let me know and I will start working on it. 619.302.6540
